Testimonials

We recently enjoyed an offsite experience with our group of 30 colleagues. Everything was excellent; the food, the accommodations, the attention to detail and most of all the employees that work at the Heritage Hotel! It was a special pleasure to work with Linda Rice who saw to every detail and rolled with all the "last minute" punches. We look forward to visiting the Heritage again in the near future.

~Carol

I recently organized a global business meeting at the Heritage. The staff (especially Linda Rice) could not have been more helpful. It made my job easy! The attendees had nothing but good comments about the accomodations and meeting room, meals, etc. It was an all-around terrific experience!

I cannot express enough of my gratitude for all of the work and effort your staff put in to help make our Fall Conference this past Saturday a big success.  If I could, I would like to individually thank every Heritage employee we encountered . . . the one thing everyone at the Heritage had in common was your friendliness.  It's this friendliness that truly makes the Heritage Hotel a beautiful place.  To you and your entire staff, thank you for making our conference a great success.  Please share our thanks and gratitude with your staff.

Sincerely, Geoff

During the weekend of August 27th, Hurricane Irene threw my family a huge curveball. My sister was supposed to be married that Saturday in Bethlehem, CT. As the wedding and reception were scheduled to be outside, my sister Lauren and her fiance, Craig had to procure all the elements required. They had selected every item and planned every aspect. Unfortunately, over a year of planning was virtually wiped away in a matter of hours.

On Saturday morning, we woke up to rumors of evening road closures, and the weather forecast had worsened greatly overnight. . .

At around 9am, we were all in the lobby, coming up with contingency plans and waiting for the governor to come on TV at 10am and announce whether he would be closing roads. One of the ideas we were considering was to move the wedding to your hotel. The manager came down and we went through what we would need. . .the manager agreed to hold the wedding and reception at your hotel. He was calm and positive throughout it all, which really helped everyone take a breath and calm down a bit.

I was impressed with how quickly your staff mobilized. They immediately put forth ideas for what room to have the ceremony in, where to have the cocktail hour and reception, and how to set up each room. I realize that you have certainly had weddings there before, but it really instilled me with confidence that we would be able to pull off moving this wedding in only 5 hours and that they would be our partners to do it. Thanks to them, I didn't feel we were alone in this endeavor.

I cannot thank you enough for the accommodation and support your staff showed my family during an extremely emotional and stressful time.

-Megan

Words cannot express how wonderful we were treated. Staff very, very friendly, front desk excellent.

One of the benefits of working for the Heritage Hotel, is being able to see all the hard work and dedication that goes into making every event a success. Every associate looks at every event as if it were for themselves. That sets the Heritage Hotel head and shoulders above the rest.

This is why my wife and I had our reception at the Heritage Hotel. After working for years for the Heritage Hotel, I had the opportunity to see the other side. After years of events, there were dozens of little details that I never thought of, but the staff sure did! Starting with Jennifer asking all the right questions, to Shannon and Chris asking about setting up the room, nothing was missed. My wife has a wheat allergy, and Chef Will was on top of it. He and his staff made all the right adjustments and the food was out of this world! We had a slide show during the reception and Phil and his staff had it set up prior to the first guest arriving, so we didn't have to wait.

It's truly amazing when 150+ guests all rave about the same things; the food, the setting, the staff—everything was perfect! I think they even controlled the rain. It was supposed to pour all day, but as soon as the limo pulled onto the hotel grounds, the sun came out and stayed out! Our family is envious that I get to work with such wonderful caring people everyday.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our day perfect!

-Russ & Erin

Best hotel staff I've ever encountered

I want to thank you again for all your help in planning our Cantor's Concert! The event was a huge success, and the venue was largely responsible. All of our needs were happily accommodated and the staff on the day of the concert couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. I'd like to extend a special thank you to Shannon for making everyone feel like an honored guest!

Many Thanks

-Cantor Sharon

We had a wonderful walk on the grounds in the morning - so peaceful and we saw deer!! Then, had a great dip in the pool.

-Fred from NY

I live in New York City and my brother and father live in Massachusetts. Heritage is the perfect meet up for a family weekend. The facilities have everything you could want including golf, ping pong, racquetball, indoor and outdoor pools. And I've never come across better customer service in my life. Especially Linda! Highly recommend a trip here.

The Heritage Hotel is a beautiful, relaxing place! I've enjoyed both a romantic visit with my husband, and (on a different visit!) a weekend-long family reunion, and I had a great stay both times. My family enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools, the racquetball courts and the health club. My kids loved swimming and also enjoyed the organized activities. We were very pleased with the food, both at the lovely restaurant and having snacks and drinks by the pool. Our rooms were large and clean, and the staff at the hotel were really nice and helpful. I hope I can get back there soon!

If you are like me, the best thing a business can do, even before offering a good product, is to provide excellent customer service. The Heritage goes above and beyond in this category. Each employee you come in contact with possesses a certain eagerness to please their guests that stays consistent throughout your stay. This is the third year in a row that we have spent father's day at the Heritage and it was great the first year and only seems to be getting progressively better. There are constant renovations to the decor and rooms. This year we noticed that they upgraded to nice big flat screen high def TVs in our rooms. Some of our favorite things to do at the Heritage are play ping pong in the family common area, play golf at the on campus course, swim in the large indoor pool, and every now and then try our hand at racquetball. We usually spend one of the night in the hotel bar/grill where they offer a classy atmosphere and two professional pool tables (free for bar patrons). One of the best things is that once you check in, you really don't have to leave because the Heritage is located around a deli, Friendly's, liquor store, golf course, bar/grill, and more recreation than an active person can handle. I HIGHLY recommend the Heritage and will be looking forward to my next stay. Lastly I want to point out that The Heritage is located in a very nice area and town, Southbury. There is shopping, Starbucks, grocery stores, restaurants all within a couple miles.

We celebrated my father's 90th birthday with a weekend at this hotel. We found the rooms clean and spacious, the staff courteous and helpful & the hotel facilities excellent. Since it was summer, the pools were a big hit with the children. My wife and I used the gym, which was adequate for our purposes.
We found the arrangements that we had made worked very well. Whenever we had any questions or concerns, the staff was right there to help. They also went out of their way to make this special weekend a memorable one.
I would stay here again in a second, and would recommend it to anyone for a weekend get-away or a family trip.

Thank you so much for all the work you did for my son Jamie and his bride Rebecca's wedding this past weekend. The staff was so accommodating, the food was wonderful and so was the service. The wedding ceremony in the garden was even more perfect than we could have imagined. Everyone at the hotel was so helpful to us and to our guests.

The reception and cocktail rooms were beautiful and we were so pleased with everything. You ladies did an amazing job from beginning to end.

We could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. We are deeply grateful to you both.

Shelley and Jerry F

Thank you so much for everything! Our group LOVED the event and ranted and raved about how much fun they had. The dining room was perfect and created the perfect ambiance for our event. Thank you to your staff for a job well done and we will DEFINITELY keep you in mind for future events!!

All the best,

Alison

We had our wedding at The Heritage Hotel in Southbury, Ct on Labor Day weekend of this year ( Sept 5th ) and we wanted to let you know about our wonderful experience both in the planning stages and during the actual wedding.

In August of 2009, I came up to Connecticut to visit my family and get into ultra-wedding planning mode before I started school again the next week.  We had been planning on having our wedding ceremony and reception at my Aunt and Uncle's house, because they are my god-parents and they have a beautiful house and surrounding property in Easton that my Uncle loves to showcase with parties.  I went over to their house with my Mom and we met with Abbey Rentals to put together the details and figure out how much tents, tables, chairs, etc, would cost.  By the end of out meeting my Mom and I realized that we had not factored in a lot of the things that would be necessary to make a wedding at their house work (generators, extra ovens, and so on ).  We left the house fairly distraught, stressed and frantic since I was going back to GA in just a few days and wouldn't be back until Christmas to do any more on-site planning.  On our way home we decided to stop at some venues in the area ( Tashua Knolls in Trumbull was one of them ) and see if it would be a better idea to use a site that was intended for and regularly used for weddings.  Northing felt right and the prices were all too high for what they were offering, so we headed home pretty unhappy and worried.

My cousin, who has worked for Jennifer Guiliano when she was short staffed-for parties, called us on our way home and said, "Why don't you stop by The Heritage on your way home – the weddings we catered there were always beautiful and Jennifer is an amazing wedding planner and so we did.  It was out last stop, literally 5 minutes from my parent's house, and it turned out to be the best decision we made about the whole wedding.  We walked in without an appointment and Jennifer dropped what she was doing to show us around and explain the packages to us.  My Mom and I looked at each other wide-eyed in amazement at how reasonable the prices were for such a gorgeous facility and how little we would have to take care of in all the preparation ( a HUGE Selling point for someone in graduate school who lives a 2 hour plane flight away). Jennifer was so well prepared and could clearly plan a wedding with her eyes closed, which made us feel so comfortable that we signed the contract immediately after talking over the details with my groom and father.

Jennifer was so helpful during the entire planning process – any time my Mom or I had a question we just had to e-mail her and she would respond ASAP.  I had the least stressful wedding experience of anyone I know and I am sure that 90% of it is because of Jennifer and her fabulous staff.  Once we got to the day of the wedding, Jennifer took control and handled last minute changes with ease.  One of our guests was allergic to wheat gluten, and to make sure that she had a fabulous time without any food problems Jennifer had a server who actually had a wheat gluten allergy serve her table so that she could tell our guest what she could safely eat and what she could not. In addition, she had the chef come in before the wedding began to talk to the groom about what he could and could not eat, since he has an MSG allergy.  All of the food was fabulous and our guests have commented on it several times since then.  The attention to detail that Jennifer and her staff exhibited at out wedding completely eliminated any stress my husband and I might have had and allowed us to enjoy every second of out special day.

You truly have an exceptional employee in Jennifer Guiliano and she is the reason we would recommend The Heritage to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the New England area.

Best Regards,

Sarah & Hugh H

Everything was set up beautifully and extremely graciously. The staff couldn't have been anymore helpful or hospitable.

  -Elana from New York

You listened to my concerns. You asked pertinent questions. You showed me a sleeping room, the Lincoln room, and we discussed different financial considerations including rooms, the conference rooms, and different food packages. You made my stay great! Thank you to all the staff.

-Beverly from Oxford, CT

From check in to departure your staff was so attentive that I felt they lived up to your motto 'Check in and leave the rest to us…". My family and I will return.

-Steve from Holliswood, NY

Your staff, location and services were excellent, and the assistance given to my assistant was above and beyond. You have a great site!

-Robert from Bethany, CT

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Heritage Hotel for their had work and professional attention to our son's wedding. We had a wonderful time, the food was delicious, the facility was charming and our guest felt very welcomed.

 -John from Newtown, CT

We can't begin to thank you enough for all your help with our reunion weekend. We have been flooded with emails telling us how much our classmates enjoyed everything! We truly appreciate the attention you gave to every detail…it just made everything so easy that before the weekend was over we were talking about doing it again!

 -Cindy from Trumbull, CT

I was the Co-Chair of the Connecticut Walk the Walk Round Up that was held at Your Hotel this weekend. We have met at your Hotel for the past 5 years. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated all of the help I got at the hotel from your staff, this weekend everyone; from the management introducing themselves, right down to the guys rolling the tables around, who located chairs, tables, anything we might need; to the girls making the coffee, the Chef who came out of the kitchen to introduce himself. Everybody was truly so nice, even if they simply smiled and said hello.

- Paul from Walk the Walk

There is not enough paper to sing the praises of your staff! I know I mentioned this at least twenty times every time I am on-site at your property; but every time I am more amazed and impressed with their thorough follow-up, attention-to-detail, total customer focus and willingness to go above and beyond. Even with the constant changes (the name of the game!) and several inane requests, their composure and focus never faltered! Their concentration and ability to stick to the task are commendable.

I have worked with a number of properties during my 20+ years as a meeting planner and your staff is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with (and my list can be counted on one hand!). I commend you on an exceptional team!

Too many times the management only hears the negatives having to do with their operations and workers. I am writing to express my extreme pleasure with the Pomperaug Golf Club and Dave Cook, the club professional.

My wife Linda and I joined the Pomperaug Golf Club last year and we are thrilled with both the leadership that Mr.Cook has shown and the total atmosphere of the club. It is a second home for us during the golf season. Dave and all of the people associated with the operation of Pomperaug Golf Club have welcomed us and made us feel like family there. I would like to thank all of the people working at the club, including workers in the pro shop, starters, and greenskeeping crew but they are too numerous to mention individually. But they all should be thanked by the Heritage Hotel leadership for their professional and welcoming demeanors.

I have brought many friends to play with me at the club and everyone comments on the fantastic atmosphere there. They all call me to go back and visit or play again. They are treated with respect and feel at home there as well.

Linda and I have taken part in many activities that Dave has planned and every time we are reminded of what a wonderful experience it is to be members of such a special place. All of it starts with Dave Cook and his staff. Dave has made many changes since we joined the club, all to better our experience there. Just this year he worked hard to provide a refreshment stand (The Turn) which has become a place to socialize with other members before or after playing golf.

We have played many other courses and visited many other golf clubs. There is just no comparison with Pomperaug. Our club is by far the friendliest, most professional club that we have been at. As long as Dave is in charge there, Linda and I will never belong to any other club.

Please accept my thanks and pass along our feelings to Dave and the rest of the staff at Pomperaug in Southbury, CT. We would have a club no other way. You are blessed to have such wonderful workers as you do at the hotel and golf club.

-John, a member of the Pomperaug Golf Course at the Heritage Hotel

With the golf season coming to a close, it seems like the perfect opportunity to reflect on our experience this year at the Heritage Golf Club in Southbury, Connecticut. Oftentimes, people put pen in hand only to share their dissatisfaction and complaints but that is not the case here.

My husband and I have been members of the Heritage for many years and we are amazed at the transition this club has experienced most especially since Dave Cook has taken the leadership position of Head Pro. Dave's warm and congenial personality has endeared him to so many of the members and he truly has been a force in creating an environment that is family friendly and welcoming to all levels of golfers. Under his direction, we have watched the social atmosphere blossom with the creation of gender friendly tournaments as well as the opening of our new place to gather after a great round of golf – The Turn. We can't say enough about this addition to the club. The food is wonderful and the staff work very hard to make each of us feel like we're being catered to. We look forward to what Dave and the crew have in store for us next year as we experience a full season with a "watering hole" that was sorely needed and is very much appreciated. We have a sense that Dave is always looking for ways to make the Heritage the place to join and it all starts with a sincere interest in people and the knowledge and drive that are critical to the maintenance and growth of a successful business. We think Dave has it all and we're pleased to be on the receiving end of his talent and effort.

-Randi, a member of the Pomperaug Golf Course at the Heritage Hotel

Yet again, Linda Rice and the rest of your staff made last week's program a huge success! Linda works tirelessly and thoughtfully to anticipate and provide for our every need. Her flexibility and willingness to accommodate us in anyway she is able makes my job as program director easy and fun! She is a willing conspirator on any idea we have to make the event special, and never seems the least bit inconvenienced in doing so. She is truly a blessing for us and an asset for your organization! Kudos as well to each and every staff member who took amazing care of our every need throughout the week! Please extend my gratitude to all!
